day 5: Cusco
You’ll head north to explore the main archaeological sites surrounding the city of Cusco, beginning with the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán. Built to protect the Inca capital, its massive stone walls were assembled with astonishing precision.
You’ll continue with a visit to the ceremonial baths of Tambomachay, dedicated to the worship of water and Andean deities, followed by the fortress of Puka Pukara, whose stones take on a pink hue at sunset. Finally, you’ll visit the ceremonial site of Q’enko, a place of worship where Incas carried out sacrifices and the mummification of nobles.

In the afternoon, guided tour of the city, once the spiritual and political heart of the Inca Empire and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You’ll stroll through its historic center, with cobbled streets and Inca stone walls, including the famous 12-angled stone.
You will also visit the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, showcasing artifacts from various Andean cultures from 1250 BC up to the Spanish conquest, and the Coricancha, the ancient Inca Temple of the Sun, over which the Santo Domingo monastery was built.
Finally, stop at San Pedro Market, the vibrant heart of the city, where colors, aromas, and local products offer a true immersion in Andean culture.
